As a Lodz Film School graduate, Slawomir Grünberg migrated to the USA in 1981. Since then, he has directed and produced over 45 documentaries concerning social, environmental and disability issues. He is a winner of numerous international awards, including an Emmy Award for School Prayer: A Community at War, a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, and the New York Foundation for the Arts and Soros Justice Media Fellowship.

Slawomir also won the Jan Karski competition for documentaries with “moral courage”, as well as the DreamCatcher Award for dedication and commitment to documentary filmmaking. He is a winner of Golden Glan and prestigious award of DocBoat Festival 2009 for the internationally acclaimed filmmaker of Polish origins.
