We mourn the loss of Jennifer Steinberg. As Director of Film Programs at the Gershman Y from 1996-2003, Jennifer coordinated all aspects of the Gershman Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival (then Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival) that presented film and video in an 800-seat venue. She also implemented and ran a grant-funded two-year series, Movies on the Avenue (now Cinema Salon), where more than 100 films were presented with guest academic and celebrity speakers.
“She was a part of the fabric of the Philadelphia film community for decades, and her lens was a creative and committed one,” said Sharon Pinkenson, Executive Director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office.
We are grateful to have experienced Jennifer’s talent and passion for film. Her hard work and dedication to the organization has shaped the future of the Gershman Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival.
