Throwing Sheyd Podcast Live!

Sunday, December 8
5 – 5:50 PM @ National Museum of American Jewish History

They’re real. They’re all around us. And — if you’re not scared — they can help you live your best life.

Almost every week, Miriam Brosseau and Alan Jay Sufrin (both of the Biblegum Pop duo Stereo Sinai), put out a new episode of their podcast, THROWING SHEYD: BETTER LIVING THROUGH JEWISH DEMONOLOGY. The objective of the podcast is to walk listeners through a tour of Jewish demonology or sheydim (the Hebrew word for supernatural beings — the singular form is sheyd), by exploring Jewish texts that mention sheydim and sharing with listeners how to apply the knowledge gleaned from these texts to achieve better living today.

In this special live version of THROWING SHEYD, Miriam and Alan will introduce you to the edges of Jewish text and tradition where the likes of Lilith, Ashmodai, and Joe the Demon thwart rabbis, haunt ruins, and hover menacingly over your carelessly open books. With heart, chutzpah, and the occasional 90s pop culture reference, Miriam and Alan will help you navigate the dark underbelly of Talmudic lore and — just maybe — come out better equipped to take on the darkness today.

Get ready for an exciting hour of exploration, games, and more!
